How Process Servers Can Stay Safe Against Covid19

Covid-19 seems to be sweeping the nation in panic while at the same time people still are having to make a living and do their job. If you’re in the boat where you can’t work from home, then you’re probably wondering how you can stay safe against this virus. Colorado Attorney Services understands that as of the current legal system is still going to be in play and as long as court is in session, us process servers will be doing our job. We want to go over what we are doing to keep safe from this rapid growing virus.

Our work involves at least some interaction with people. We serve papers to the intended person. Our encounters are brief though. As you have heard on TV the famous lines are “You’ve been served.” After that there is no reason for us to be in the presence of the person. In all honesty, we don’t even touch the person. Due to this fact, we are very conscientious that we are being on the up and up when it comes to making sure that we are not sick. In addition, we are taking every precaution necessary when it comes to sanitizing our place of work and when we are out on a job.

What can process servers do to protect themselves? The first thing is to follow the guidelines that the CDC has given. Stay home if you feel you are even slightly sick. If you’re not sick, make sure to sanitize regularly. This is very important because doing so will kill the virus if you happen to come in contact with it. As many have stated again and again, don’t touch your face or if you must, sanitize first and then sanitize after. Another recommendation is to stay at least 6 ft apart from someone else. This can be incredibly difficult, but most people should understand given the circumstances that we are in.

People may not be happy at the fact that you are coming to their home because of this virus going around. Be sure to let the person know that you are not infected with Covid-19 and confirm that they are likewise not infected with it before proceeding.

As of currently, this is a high-risk job because of the danger that it puts process servers through and now with Covid-19 adding to the mix, it makes it even more so. You don’t have to get sick though, be careful and cautious when doing your job, sanitize regularly, and follow all the guidelines given by the CDC.
