Although they are there to serve legal documents it doesn’t mean that they have free reign to do as they please in order to make it happen. There are some states that will allow you to trespass in order to reach the defendant. You will have to do some research on your state to know whether that applies to yours or not though. Regardless of what the trespassing laws are in your state though there are no exceptions to breaking and entering. This is illegal no matter what state you’re in. Nor can you make them open the door even if you know their home. This means that you are not allowed to pretend to be law enforcement to try and get them to open the door. In either case, you will simple just have to come back at another time.
